370. Nutcracker Afternoon Tea at the Shangri-La Hotel
My friend and I went for the holiday "Nutcracker Afternoon Tea" at the Shangri-La Hotel yesterday. It was a great experience and I had a lot of fun catching up with her. I love having afternoon teas at luxury hotels, but unfortunately I don't go often enough. I'd love to try all the ones in Toronto. The Shangri-La Hotel is an Asian-inspired luxury hotel chain, which reflected in the lobby decor and details of the afternoon tea (tea menu, tea cups, uniforms of the servers, etc.). It was all very beautiful! I'd definitely go back for tea sometime.
The lobby.
We got my favourite spot beside the fireplace. The red book above is their menu of teas. There was such a large selection it was hard to choose just one! I went for the Apple Honey Nectar tea, and my friend went for Apple Crumble.
The menu of each tier.
I loved the finger sandwiches: roasted turkey with cranberry preserve, honey baked ham with caramelized onions, smoked salmon and egg mayonnaise, and cucumber with herb boursin cheese. The cucumber and turkey ones were my favourite.
There were two types of scones: orange-scented currant and classic scones, served with Devonshire cream, berry jam and citrus marmalade. The second tier had a gingerbread loaf cake tied with a bow. It was delicious, but unfortunately I was pretty full by the time I got to it I wasn't able to eat a lot.
& finally, the top tier had pastries inspired by The Nutcracker. "Spanish Dance" Chocolate Truffle (66% chocolate, cinnamon, chili), "Arabian Dance" Coffee Opera Cake (jaconde sponge, coffee hazelnut butter cream, chocolate glaze), "Chinese Dance" Darjeeling Tea (cassis cream, Darjeeling tea gelee, crispy meringue), "Russian Dance" Candy Cane (peppermint macaron), "Dance of the Reed Flutes" Danish Marzipan Cake (citrus sponge, marzipan glaze)
Afternoon tea costs $40 per person. Call to reserve at: +1(647)788-8858

Wow, it looks absolutely fantastic and the price is very reasonable too. You are lucky that you can have afternoon tea in your city. I don't know any place in my country that serves it this way... But I'm going to have some when I'm in London in March. Already booked a table at The Ritz! Have a lovely weekend.
